IPX Treks
Welcome to the IPX Trek page
As we grew up in the Svalbardian wilderness we have developed a love for the contrast of the Australian bush. We love the Blue Mountains and are especially fond of a stretch of towns called Warrimoo, Valley Heights & Blaxland. On Svalbard when most of the IPX team was part of the Svalbardian Polar Elite & Arctic Re-con Specialists (SPEARS) The team has been involved on many Long Range Arctic Patrols, and undercover operations within Norway. Now all the IPX members are now out of SPEARS Force they enjoy the Australian outdoors and keep their skills razor sharp through Trekking, Camping, Canoing and various other activities.
One thing that IPX does enjoy is a magical thing called Geocaching.
“Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for GPS users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a GPS unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.” – www.geocaching.comGarmin Vista CX
If you’re interested in starting your own, or tracking down a Geocache, an important tool is Google Earth!
“Google Earth combines the power of Google Search with satellite imagery, maps, terrain and 3D buildings to put the world’s geographic information at your fingertips.” earth.google.com
When Geocaching, it is important, but not essential, to have a GPS Device.
When Caching, IPX chooses to use the Garmin Vista CX. Team IPX source their geocaching hardware through Johnny Appleseed
The IPX team reverts naturally back to their SPEARS training and roles when out Geocaching With Fuzz employing his IT skills in the Location and Planning, Kazozza and Kazashi do most of the Directional and Navigation with both Paper Maps and GPS. Sha8doW and Chappo are employed to action highrisk maneuvers in Retrieval while AxeMan is on Point and Re-con and Sir Draco takes care of Base Support.

IPX are always planning more expeditions. If you know of a great hard to reach Geocache that you would like to challenge IPX to find, you can send us a Challenge Email to [email protected] or feel free to post a comment with a challenge!
IPX would like to dedicate this Page and all their Geocache Expedition Treks to the memory of Adam Jewell – “We were only 9 at the time… but we hope to solve the mystery one day”
If you have any details relating to the Adam Jewell mystery please contact your local police authorities or Team IPX
