> I have applied for a Team IPX permanent ventrilo channel
Thanks mate for taking the initiative. We’ve used Skype a couple of times before, and I think the team will have a better gaming experience if we start using voice comms in games more regularly. Not to mention that we’ll be a better team in scrims with some decent tactical planning etc.
Plus we can bitch about the people we’re playing with/against and make ourselves feel better :)
Us Linux types have some trouble with Ventrilo, usually able to get sound but microphones won’t play ball… TeamSpeak and Skype both work fine, but given I don’t use either regularly I’m not sure what we miss out on from not using Ventrilo.
Kazashi, have you tried using Ventrilo with Wine any time lately to see if this problem is fixed?
Shad: I think playing against dick heads (and Norwegians) is part of online gaming with public servers — it just happens and we can’t fix it any time soon.
Nice: seems Ventrilo does work alright on Linux these days, surround sound and all. There’s an issue with push-to-talk however, as keyboard actions are swallowed by the active window (i.e. the game) and don’t get through the other app…. we’ll just have to be really quiet and leave it on all the time ;)
Voice comms FTW!
