used to be computers doubled in power every year. sadly that hasnt been the case for quite a while. i dont see myself upgrading for quite a while theres really no point
also just got my oculus rift DK2. cant use it yet since they redid the API for the 10th time and only bothered to do the windows side(they said nothing too. they delayed the delivery for the SDK then they announced it absolutely no meantion of no linux/mac version you gotta find out they dont exist by trying to find the download. then after a while oculus finally replies mac/linux coming no eta. gotta feel good to be treated like you dont exist) so now mac/linux users are waiting months for them to redo that side AGAIN. their product might be cool but their API is forever changing and will always only support their version of VR
not to mention the delayed API means all those UE4 and unity demos aswell as others will probably not get a linux demo even though they are already cross platform and most wont go back to upgrade the API just for linux/mac users. it happened for DK1
atleast the delivery was only a little late unlike the kickstarter that took them months(and that was even after they moved the release date :/)
TL:DR
* No need to upgrade these days
* Oculus – good HW, sucky company and software(also now owned by facebook:( )
