Rust Officially Launches

Rust never sleeps. As proof, Facepunch Studios announces the release of Rust on Steam, an official launch for their Windows, macOS, and Linux survival game that entered Early Access in 2013. This post has Devblog 197 with the details on changes that accompany the release. Here’s word on how this will take you out of the blue and into the black:
The only aim in Rust is to survive. To do this you will need to overcome struggles such as hunger, thirst and cold. Build a fire. Build a shelter. Kill animals for meat. Protect yourself from other players, and kill them for meat. Create alliances with other players and form a town. Do whatever it takes to survive.

Rust Leaving Early Access in February

Rust Website announces that Rust is leaving Early Access on February 8th, getting its official release after a four year run (thanks Polygon). Though as developer Garry Newman explains, this doesn’t actually mean they are as complete as all that. “Please try not to compare the game to some other finished game or some idealised version you have in your head. Compare the game now to how it was when we entered Early Access. That’s the delta that we feel qualifies us to leave Early Access,” he explains. “Think of it more like we’re leaving Prototyping and entering Alpha.” Here’s more on what a not big deal they are making of this:
We plan to leave Early Access on the 8th February 2018. We’re not planning any big reveals, launch parties, around the world tours or cash prize giveaways for this event. We’re not going to move staff onto other projects. It’s very much going to happen without much fuss. It’s business as usual.
